Introduction

Welcome to the UN-SEAM Fashion Award Singapore, a prestigious competition dedicated to fostering innovation and sustainability within the fashion industry. This document outlines the comprehensive rules, guidelines, and regulations for participation in the contest across all seven categories. Our aim is to provide a clear framework that encourages creativity, promotes ethical practices, and ensures a fair and transparent judging process. By participating, all entrants agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

 

Eligibility

1.  General Eligibility:

  • The UN-SEAM Fashion Award Singapore is open to individuals, design teams, and organizations globally.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration, unless registering as a school student (see below).
  • Entries must be original work of the participant(s) and not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights.

2.  School Student Eligibility:

  • Participants currently enrolled in a recognized primary, secondary, or tertiary educational institution (e.g., polytechnic, university, fashion design school) are eligible for free entry.
  • Proof of enrollment (e.g., valid student ID, letter from institution) must be submitted during registration.
  • School student entries will be judged within their respective categories alongside general entries, but their entry fee will be waived.

3.  Disqualification:

  • Entries that do not adhere to the rules, guidelines, or regulations set forth in this document will be disqualified.
  • Any form of plagiarism, misrepresentation, or unethical conduct will result in immediate disqualification.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify any entry at its sole discretion.

 

Registration Process & Fees

1.  Registration Period: October 1, 2025 to February 28, 2026. Early Bird Special is from October 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.
2.  Registration Platform: All registrations must be completed online via the official UN-SEAM Fashion Award Singapore website.
3.  Entry Fee:

  • School Students: Free of charge. Valid student ID or proof of enrolment required.
  • All Other Participants: SGD 150 per entry.
  • Early Bird Special: SGD 100 per entry. (For non-student registrations before December 31, 2025)
  • Payment must be made in Singapore Dollars (SGD) through the designated online payment gateway.
  • Entry fees are non-refundable.

4.  Exhibition Tickets: All registered participants, regardless of entry fee status, will receive a complimentary pair of tickets to the UN-SEAM Fashion Award Exhibition at the National Arts Gallery. Details on ticket collection will be provided upon successful registration.

 

Submission Requirements

Participants must submit the following materials through the online registration platform. Specific requirements may vary slightly by category.

1.  Project Description (Max 500 words):

  • Clearly articulate the concept, inspiration, and sustainable aspects of your entry.
  • Explain how your entry addresses the criteria of the chosen category.
  • Highlight any innovative materials, processes, or technologies used.

2.  Visual Documentation:

  • Images: Minimum of 5, maximum of 10 high-resolution images (JPEG or PNG, min. 300 dpi) showcasing your design(s) from various angles, including detail shots. For Material Revolution, include images of the material itself and its application.
  • Optional Video: A short video (max 3 minutes, MP4 format) demonstrating the functionality, wearability, or production process of your design. Highly recommended for Digital Innovation and Circular Design categories.

3.  Sustainability Statement (Max 300 words):

  • Detail the specific sustainable practices, materials, and ethical considerations integrated into your entry.
  • Quantify environmental or social impact where possible (e.g., water saved, carbon reduced, fair wages paid).

4.  Technical Specifications / Bill of Materials (for relevant categories):

  • Detailed breakdown of materials used, including composition, origin, and certifications.
  • Description of manufacturing processes, including location and any certifications (e.g., GOTS, Fair Trade).

5.  Biography / Team Profile (Max 150 words):

  • Brief biography of the individual designer(s) or team members, highlighting relevant experience and passion for sustainable fashion.

 

Judging Process

1.  Panel of Judges: Entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of esteemed judges comprising industry experts, sustainable fashion advocates, academics, and designers.
2.  Evaluation Criteria: Judges will assess entries based on:

  • Innovation (30%): Originality of concept, novelty of materials/processes, and forward-thinking solutions. 
  • Sustainability Impact (30%): Measurable environmental and social benefits, adherence to ethical practices, and circularity principles.
  • Design & Aesthetics (20%): Creativity, craftsmanship, aesthetic appeal, and market viability.
  • Feasibility & Scalability (10%): Potential for real-world application and broader impact.
  • Presentation & Clarity (10%): Quality of submission materials and clear articulation of ideas.

3.  Judging Rounds: The judging process will involve multiple rounds, including initial screening, shortlisting, and final evaluation. Finalists may be required to present their work virtually or in person.
4.  Decision: The judges' decisions are final and binding.

 

Awards & Recognition

  • Winners: Winners in each category will be announced at the Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony on November 27, 2026.
  • Prizes: Prizes may include cash awards, mentorship opportunities, media features, exhibition space, and industry connections.
  • Publicity: Winners and selected finalists will receive extensive media coverage through the UN-SEAM Fashion Award Singapore's public relations efforts.

Intellectual Property

1.  Ownership: Participants retain full ownership of their intellectual property rights in their submitted entries.
2.  License: By submitting an entry, participants grant the UN-SEAM Fashion Award Singapore a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, display, and publish their submitted materials (images, videos, descriptions) for promotional, educational, and archival purposes related to the award, across all media platforms.

General Regulations

1.  Changes to Rules: The organizing committee reserves the right to modify these rules, guidelines, and regulations at any time. Any changes will be communicated to registered participants.
2.  Force Majeure: The organizing committee is not responsible for any failure to perform its obligations hereunder where such failure is due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
3.  Governing Law: These rules, guidelines, and regulations shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.
4.  Dispute Resolution: Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this contest shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, the dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
